I also remember across the street from that, there was an Adams Drugs (then it became Brooks Drugs? I don't even know what it is now, maybe a Rite Aid?). Speaking of that area, I remember a Star Market where the Benny's now stands on West Shore Rd. near where the Dave's is (not the Hoxie 4 corners Daves, but the original Daves market).

I remember a great New York System hot dog restaurant on West Shore Rd. And the Bertoli's pizza in the same area, didn't that go out of business? (good pizza, but I always thought it was overpriced). It was near the site of the Sheraton hotel. that was torn down in the late 80's or early 90's. Now I'm going crazy trying to remember the banquet hall/steak house (Valle's Steakhouse?) over by TF Green Airport on Post Rd. This thread brings back lots of memories. Nothing could be better.unless stopping by a New York system late night for some gaggers. Oh and reading the list of those former night clubs with such great live entertainment.who here can say they took,a few laps around Kennedy Plaza after getting a late night bite to eat at Haven Brother

Whatever it was I will always remember the vibrant little state all those years ago. Maybe because the state was so small that we could drive to all the great little areas, restaurants, shops, etc, that everyone has mentioned so easily. I have traveled extensively the last forty years and hands down I think back to those years growing up in RI and would not change a thing and gladly relive those days again. I know things are different but that does not change the way I feel about the state. We return each summer and Christmas and realize things are very much different from those days in the past.

Growing up in the sixties, seventies and mid eighties in RI brings back great memories for me. I don't know why I feel so nostalgic reading these posts.
